Deborah Blacker, MD, Sc.D.

Dr. Blacker is the Deputy Chair and a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) and a Professor of Psychiatry at MGH and HMS. She is a geriatric psychiatrist and epidemiologist with a long history of research on the genetics, epidemiology, and early recognition of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders (ADRD). Much of her work is focused on nosology and measurement issues and their critical role in research. She holds multiple collaborations with a variety of clinical, health policy, bioinformatics, and epidemiology investigators on optimal methods for measuring dementia in clinical and epidemiological research settings and in electronic health records and claims. She also has expertise in the design and analysis of longitudinal studies in dementia research.
