Behavioral Intervention Development Core

The Behavioral Intervention Development Core (BIDC) measurably advances and accelerates dementia dyadic interventions across the spectrum of dementias. Specifically, we:

1 Stimulate independent investigators and teams of investigators to develop, test and implement potent, principle-driven dementia dyadic interventions.

2 Use a team science approach to facilitate pilot studies that inform the design and conduct of subsequent hypothesis-driven studies that move the interventions across the NIH stage model.

3 Catalyze translation of interventions for steadfast scaling of funded pilots into real world practice while ensuring that each intervention is mechanistically focused, empirically validated and implementable.

All activities are guided by our novel conceptual model.

  • Build a "network of networks."

We connect awardees and investigators with resources, consultants, and mentees.

  • Identify pilot awardees annually.

We solicit applications for pilot projects nationally and review proposals to provide thorough and thoughtful feedback.

  • Provide ongoing support for pilot awardee research projects.

We meet with selected investigators to review aims, establish a plan for completion, meet frequently, and offer regulatory support.
